The choice of the route is inspired by the Montañas Vacías project. With the aspiration of offering a tour in Navarra and its surroundings that also arouses sensations of silence, contact with nature, and distance from man’s action on the environment. In addition, it seeks to offer a conscious bikepacking tour, conducive to introspection and inner growth. This itinerary is the fruit of several years of work, with cartographic and in situ research. It is divided into four rings, each of them with a very different character. WATER, WIND, FIRE and EARTH.
The choice of the route has been made by selecting agricultural tracks in good condition with little technical difficulty, suitable for MTB or gravel biking, completely disused roads and several conditioned river fords. The sporting challenge of this tour is medium-high, prior preparation and experience is recommended. Its ring-shaped design allows you to experience the adventure in a controlled way and facilitating the existence of a base camp in Figarol in Carcastillo (3 rings), Aibar (2 rings) or Tudela (2 rings). With hardtail bike a minimum 45mm wheel tire is advisable. With rigid fork bigger tires will improve comfort. A full suspension bike is not necessary.
There are few steps by villages and it is convenient to take advantage of them to recharge water, rest or buy supplies. The best places to start are those that allow you to make several rings, but if you prefer to start from Pamplona or Soria, you also have the link track with the route.
